Can you share more with our readers about your role as Advertising Operations Associate?

Nic: As a member of BulletinHealthcare’s Ad Ops team, I oversee the life of a campaign! I flight campaigns, execute them, and facilitate any necessary updates along the way. The bulk of my work involves setting up creative, implementing tags, and passing test eNLs through our Q.A. process, which can get fairly complicated!

What initially drew you to a career in advertising operations and marketing?

Nic: I studied English during college, and I could tell that marketing and ad ops would challenge me in the same ways that my degree did. They both demand close attention to detail, which I appreciate and enjoy applying to my work. Both also entail monitoring trends in in the industry, and being able to identify and analyze these are highly satisfying to me. Marketing and writing both tend to have a tangible goal, but the best way to get there often lies in abstraction. Finding the best way to reach a goal, be that in advertising or writing, is an enjoyable challenge to me.

What does an average day look like for you in your role?

Nic: The days here are dynamic, which keeps things interesting! I could spend the better part of a day flighting a campaign with hyper-specific targeting parameters, or several campaigns that are more straightforward. I could also spend my time setting up creative and sending it through our quality assurance channels. Or, I could format and segment one of the several list matches that we receive in a day. Likely I’m doing a mix of all of these!

Could you elaborate on the process of ad targeting within our healthcare email newsletters?

Nic: We target healthcare providers on a broad spectrum. While plenty of ads go to the full circulation of a newsletter’s readership, one of Bulletin’s strengths is our ability to target at a granular level. We’re able to segment and refine list matches to break things out by certain data points, as well as target geographically or by medical specialties. This helps us place the most applicable advertisements in front of healthcare providers, and in turn, help them understand what pharmaceuticals may be most effective for treating their patients.

How do you stay informed about industry trends and developments?

Nic: LinkedIn is great for staying up to date! Conversations with other professionals in the healthcare space are great, too. For me, however, nothing beats keeping an eye out for any trends in my day-to-day work.

Do you have any specific routines or habits that you believe contribute to your productivity and success?

Nic: I follow a morning routine to the best of my ability, which involves making coffee, going on a short walk around my neighborhood, and using whatever time I have left for leisure. From time-to-time, I’ll wake up extra early and bake. I love making bagels in the early hours of the morning. The tactile nature of working the dough, the low hum of kitchen appliances, and peaceful morning darkness reminds me of my first job at a deli, where I often worked hours before sunrise. Setting time aside for myself before the day begins lends me energy and excitement, which helps me have an efficient and enjoyable workday.

What’s a hobby or interest that you’re particularly passionate about outside of work?

Nic: I love making music! I’ve been focused on making lofi beats for a few years now, but I like to work across an array of genres. I also love reading and writing – especially poetry. I’m interested in trying to develop a video game in my free time someday, as it seems like a mix of all my creative interests, and I am very passionate about video games.

Anything else you’d like to share with our readers?

Nic: I am constantly on the hunt for the world’s greatest pizza. If you have any insight that would aid me in this flavor-quest, or just want to (deep) dish, please reach out.
